Severe Winter Storms – Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and NW Florida Jan. 02, 2017

For our viewers in southern Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and northwest Florida – January 3, 2017 at 2:20 AM CST.

We have seen the news reports of tornado and straight line wind damage from the severe storms on January 2, especially in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. No injuries or deaths have been reported in the Gulf Shores area, but there has been significant damage to buildings, trees, power lines and infrastructure.  Some deaths have been reported near Dothan, Alabama. Moderate flooding is a concern in many places, especially along the Styx River, and dense fog has set in.  Authorities are cautioning that unless travel is absolutely required, to please stay off the roads until officials and workers can clear debris and assure your travel safety.
