  1. HURRICANE GUSTAV Update 05:45 Hrs CDT USA 26 August 2008.

This rapidly developing storm has already attained Hurricane Category 1 status with central winds at 88 MPH with gusting to near 100 MPH. The storm is going to be battering Haiti later today and will track to the west northwest south of Cuba for a few days. This will allow the storm to be over the warm waters for a long period of time and will produce a storm of major Hurricane levels. Our tracking software is showing a southern Gulf of Mexico involvement between Cuba and the Yucatan Peninsula by late this weekend and we are monitoring this potentially dangerous situation very carefully. Persons from Florida to Texas along the Gulf Coast should be paying attention to this developing storm.
