    Tropical storm Fay had become somewhat stationary over Coastal Florida near the Kennedy Space Center but will make a slight westerly turn. Numerous Tropical Storm warnings, flash flood warnings and tornado watches and warnings have been issued for the entire northeastern region of Florida. Battering 15 to 18 foot waves are causing severe beach errosion from near Daytona Beach all the way to central coastal Georgia. Some rainfall totals as of midnight local time are: Melbourne – 16.9 inches, Cocoa Beach – 24.6 inches, Moore Haven – 17.8 inches, Fort Pierce – 11.2 inches and Vero Beach – 10.7 inches.

    The projected track across northern and northwestern Florida and into southern Alabama and Mississippi over the next 3 to 5 days remains in the forecast.
