EARLY UNOFFICIAL ADVISORY: Invest -97L is gathering some organization in the northwest Caribbean. This area of storminess may intensify into Named Storm Helene early this week. International forecast models are not in full agreement at this time, but persons along the eastern, northeastern and northern Gulf of Mexico should be monitoring this situation carefully. Some models from international sources are projecting this storm to reach major hurricane strength before landfall along the Panhandle of Florida later this week. However, this projection could change as the storm moves north and is influenced by other weather systems.
Persons along the Gulf Coast of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, southern Georgia and far eastern Texas may be affected by this storminess as it gains strength and moves north.
