Tropical Depression # 8 – 2024

Tropical Depression # 8 – 2024 formed rapidly off the coast of the Carolina’s from a low pressure area. Since this storm is so close to the coast, it may not have time to develop into a Tropical Storm. This storm system will be coming ashore near the North Carolina/South Carolina border area Monday, September 16, and will track inland almost due north. Persons in the Carolina’s can expect heavy rain, lowlands flooding, gusty winds, possible tornadoes, some power outages and minor coastal storm surge.

We are posting this information due to it’s close proximity to the coast and limited time for residents to prepare.

Named Storm Gordon – 2024

Named Storm Gordon – 2024 formed in the central tropical Atlantic from a low pressure wave. This storm will probably make Hurricane strength over the next few days, but the steering currents in that part of the Atlantic will move the storm system generally northwest and then north into the North Atlantic. Since Named Storm Gordon will not be directly affecting the US, this may be our only mention of this storm system.

Named Storm Francine – 2024

Named Storm Francine formed from a tropical depression in the far southwestern Gulf of Mexico. This storm will be moving generally north over the next few days, along the eastern Mexico and eastern Texas Gulf Coasts. Persons from the Texas/Mexico border along the coast to Louisiana, Mississippi and southwest Alabama should be carefully monitoring the progress of Named Storm Francine. Coastal residents of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and possibly southwest Alabama can expect gusty winds, heavy rain, high wave action, beach erosion, lightning, high tide coastal storm surge and possible tornadoes.
